    Acuity is seeking a Document Composition Developer to review, analyze, modify, and create document composition solutions based on OpenText Exstream software and/or Compuset composition language. The developer will be responsible for coding, testing, and debugging programs to support the document composition process such as sorting, bundling, connector creation, and data transformation. They must communicate with the user areas for specifications and problem resolution. The developer's duties also includes maintenance of document templates and components, checking production jobs for errors and developing a resolution, working with project teams in building document solutions per business specification, and research and implement features of Exstream software as needed. 

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Design, analyze, develop and test document composition solutions in OpenText Exstream.
    • Work with users, business analysts and other developers to review and understand functional requirement and specifications.
    • Demonstrates willingness and aptitude to learn design software with minimal supervision.
    • Possesses thorough knowledge of document compositions, style sheets, variables, tables, and document flow.
    • Has knowledge of commonly used programming concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • Ability to create functions or formulas for re-use as needed in the design of documents. 
    • Understands data structures and data mapping specification for html, xml, and schema model per the W3C’s standards.
    • Typesets and proofreads all forms. Supporting and enforcing pre-established guidelines and corporate standards
    • Prepares print documentation.
    • Adds, updates, and deletes document templates and components in document repository.
    • Supports and adheres to the development lifecycle associated with developing, testing, and promoting document templates and components.
    • Checks production processing for errors, determines the cause and either corrects or refers to the proper resource. 
    • Resolves production problems and participates in the nightly call list for problem resolution.
    • Communicates effectively with technical people of all levels and with users at a non-technical level.
    • Generates Postscript, PDF, email, archival, and other delivery formats.
    • Codes production and test Compuset applications for Metaprint and PDF formats.
    • Prepares and tests JCL for the production and development jobs.
    • Works with the Project System to create, maintain, and close tasks.
    • Assists other teams with project implementations.
    • Alerts General Manager IS, Manager IS, or Senior Systems Architect of any problems or delays.
    • Follows department standards and procedures and recognizes when changes to these may be justified
    • Regular and predictable attendance.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience


    EXPERIENCE:  Experience working with OpenText Exstream or similar customer communication management tools preferred.  Knowledge of Visual Basic, Java, or scripting language, HTML, XML/XSD and data mapping required. Familiarity with print technologies and terminology helpful.
